June, 2010
The recording continues at a snails pace. It seems whenever we get a break in our schedules to get together, the computer decides to act up. But with Josh on summer break and regularly scheduled days off, we should see a spike in studio time.
We have booked and are working on more local shows for this summer. So no excuses....... we want to see all our friends , starting with Amy's Mexican Restuarant on Hwy 18 in Apple Valley on July 17!
March, 2010
Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to vote the band into the Crossroads Guitar Festival this June in Chicago! It will probably come down to the wire and we will not know until the beginning of June. If you have not yet voted, please do it as soon as you can, We are counting on you guys! See the link on the home page!
Another computer glitch has put a hault to any further recording....for now. The good news is, we were able to retrieve all the work that had been done so far! The new computer has been ordered and should be here and ready to go by the time our next scheduled session comes up on March 18th. We are still trying to stay positive with a June release. We also are very close to booking some shows...... stay tuned.
Feb. 2010
Al had his surgery this past week and so far he has given everyone 2 thumbs up! We hope he will be feeling well enough to get back to recording by the first week of March! Look for Big Al on facebook and let him know how much we all care!
Jan. 2010
Well, the boys had several shows booked for February, but for reasons beyond our control forced us to cancel. First and foremost is the condition of Albert's back. He has been struggeling for a long time with major back issues. He will be going into surgery in the middle of next month..... we will keep everyone posted on his progress.
In the meantime, the new album project is in full swing..... I know we have said this before, but a complete dedication from the core three members is making it all happen. Al, Bruce and Josh have finished rythm tracks on 6 BRAND NEW tunes! They also have 8 other songs wrote and formatted and should have them recorded within the next month. "We have an assembly line going," says Bruce " while we are all working on the rythm tracks together, Al is doing post production work, Josh is writing lyrics and I am working on graphics for the completed project. We also have our mixing and mastering teams all set up and waiting for the finished recordings. At this pace, we should be done before June!"
The new album is another reason we have taken a break from live shows..... but when the record is finished.... look out!
December 2009
Every year about this time the band takes a short breather to spend time with their families. This year was another busy year.... with over 40 nights of live blues shows, many more nights of rehearsals and jam sessions with friends. Thanks to all our friends and regulars that take the time out of their busy schedules to come out and support "The Albert Miranda Projkt", live music and the blues! We will post our Jan. and Feb. dates as soon as they are available.... see ya soon.
November 2009
Our original song "If I Only Had Your Son" has been chosen to be on a compilation CD sponsored by Lakland bass guitars. Bruce had a chance to visit the Lakland factory in Chicago last December and meet the owner Dan Lakin. Bruce is also a part of their enthusiast group on the official Lakland website. The CD is made up of many styles of music and share the common thread of Lakland basses being used in each of the tracks. As soon as the CD is available, we will have the information on our website.
October 2009
Thanks to all the folks at Desert Thunder and Buffalo Bills Casino and Resort for an awesome weekend! (see pictures on the photo link)
We had a great time and raised lots of money for Children Charity along with The Sanbernardino Sheriff Department. Thank you Micheal Gregory and Kenn Scott for a job well done.... Hope to be back next year!
February 2009
Ok... this is a case of "The right time.... the right place". Last month we had the honor of having Steve Nieves sit in with us at Lucille's BBQ in Chino Hills and add some incredible sax and vocals. We have been experimenting with a digital recorder at live shows, but it is very tricky on placement and what kind of a recording you get. All the stars aligned, and we were blessed with an awesome recording that night. Albert is hard at work, mixing and mastering the project, so Look for this CD to be for sale at all live shows soon!
January 2009
Fantastic night at lucille's in Chino Hills on the 17th. Steve Nieves joined the band for the entire night and then a surprise visit from his two oldest boys JoJo and Izzy made a great jam session. Thanks guys.... it was a blast!
Album Update: There are about 6 complete songs finished for the new album and another 10 fragmented songs that need to be formatted and lyrics added.....so, inch by inch the album is being completed. "Once all the scratch tracks are done, we start recording for real and bring in our ringers like Steve Nieves, Moe Grundy and Edi for percussion. Thats when it will take on a whole different dimension." says Bruce. The band is now in the process of committing every Saturday to recording and completing the project. "We are still hoping to have it done and out in public sometime this spring." says Al
Gabe DelaCruz has left the friendly confines of the High Desert to continue his education, and is now living in Fullerton. Looks like it may be hard for him to make rehearsals, but with his talent.... he really doesn't need practice!
December
Bass player Bruce Grogan took a business opportunity in Chicago and turned it into a bass players dream field-trip. Lakland Bass Guitar Company is based in Chicago and Bruce has been dreaming of owening one for years. Well, after a personal tour of the manufacturing plant from Leo Lopez and a brief handshake with owner Dan Lakin, Big Bruce picked up his 2 new Lakland 5 string guitars!
